Jacopo Coin plans to bike 3000 km (almost 2000 miles) through North America. He is starting in Vancouver, BC and going to San Diego, CA. He joined the Morning Show to discuss his upcoming journey.

Jacopo Coin was an exchange student from Italy who stayed in Bemidji years ago, and he is visiting his host family before he begins his long journey down the west coast of North America.

Most of his planned trip is on the Pacific bike route, which is very organized for bikers. He is planning to camp along the way, choosing to travel without a support car.

This won’t be the first time Coin has been to the west coast. His family visited San Francisco when he was 7 years old, but he doesn’t remember much of the trip. That’s partially the reason why he chose the area for his upcoming journey, besides the beautiful sights.

He intends to begin his journey on Thursday, Aug. 8, and he has already booked his flight back so there is a deadline to reach San Diego by Sept. 26. Coin still believes that should give him enough time to explore different areas like the Redwoods, Golden Gate Bridge, and more.

Follow Coin’s journey on his Instagram. He also has a GoFundMe to help fund the essentials he’ll need while on the journey.
