Timberjay editor and publisher Marshall Helmberger joins Heidi Holtan on the Friday Morning Show and talks about some of the stories that they covered during the week. This week they start out with a story of the unexpected death of the Timberjay’s longtime editorKeith Vandervort. Marshall talks about the great addition he was to their team and the huge loss for his family and friends, as well as the newspaper.
Marshall reports that it is a great year for mushrooms. August’s wet weather brought an abundance of mushrooms leaving a variety of shapes and colors to the area woods. Marshall and Heidi remind people to take the time to learn the edible ones from the poisonous ones.
In comparison to the mushroom boom Marshall tells us that the wild rice season is slow to start with crops generally poor in most parts of the region. Listen here for more on these stories and go to timberjay.com for NE Minnesota news.
