Neil Simon's only farce brings the laughs to downtown Bemidji

...it's about a dinner party, an anniversary party that's happening. But…the first guest that arrives ends up finding that the host has been shot…So as other guests arrive, they're not sure what to tell or what to say. And each couple has their little issues that they bring into the party … which gets translated into people talking about things that may be true or may not be true, hence the name Rumors…. It’s Neil Simon's take on…the well-to-do… all the people in the story are just very flawed people, but yet they live with a pretense or window dress. - Derrick Houle, Director

Bemidji Community Theater brings Neil Simon’s only farce Rumors to the BCT Performing Arts Complex stage this weekend and next. Director Derrick Houle and actor Vicki Stenerson discuss the production and the importance of a thriving community theater organization in this Area Voices segment.

…it is such a bonding exercise when you're in a production together, whether you're on the stage or behind the stage, whether you're the lead or doing the lights, it's getting to know people and developing friendships and from all parts of the community… - Vicki Stenerson, Actor

Rumors production dates are February 11, 12, 18 & 19 at 7pm and February 13th and 20th at 2pm. Tickets are available at Ken K Thompson Jewelry and Iverson Corner Drug in Bemidji.
