Border News Roundup: Mining Hearings, Cook Ambulance Shortages and Wolf Predation

www.timberjay.com

Marshall Helmberger and Border News Roundup

This week they talk about the latest proposal by the U.S. Forest Service to withdraw mineral leasing on a portion of the Superior National Forest. Marshall tells us about the withdrawal process and the public meetings held for both supporters and opponents to give their opinions. He compares the last public testimony held five years ago to the hearings held this time virtually over Zoom. Thousands turned out at the 2017 meetings, described as a raucous event, because of the pandemic the recent format was held differently, without the show of force from either side.

Heidi and Marshall talk about the impact staffing shortages have on the Cook Ambulance service and a new study published by the University of Minnesota on moose, deer and wolf, having to do with brain worm infections. For more on these stories and others go to timberjay.com.
