We are collecting stories about the past, about places and people and cultures and experiences. And we're doing that to help people learn from that, to build and create new ideas, to create change, to build and explore and become new people in and of themselves. And I think that we have an opportunity to really be impactful in that way at a local level. – Emily Thabes, Beltrami County Historical Society
The Beltrami County Historical Society celebrates the release of three new publications Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 4-8pm. Emily Thabes became Executive Director of the history center in April of this year. Sue Bruns contributed to and collaborated on the publications. In this interview Thabes shares how her history in library science lends itself well to her role at the history center and Bruns discusses the processes of creating publications that encapsulate 125 years of Bemidji’s history.
An open house will take place at the Beltrami County Historical Society Thursday, August 5 from 4-7pm with author presentations beginning at 7pm.
