Tuesdays are special at KAXE/KBXE. It’s the day we celebrate Phenology - the rhythmic biological nature of events as they relate to climate. Every week our resident phenologist John Latimer gathers messages from listeners and takes a close look at what he’s noticed during the week in his outdoor adventures. He gives a full report every Tuesday. Today's report comes via cell phone as power was out at the KAXE studio due to hail and high winds... but... the phenology show must go on!

What are you noticing outside? Leave a message at 218-999-9876 or email John at jlatimer@kaxe.org! We’d love to hear about it!

If you love that a program like the Phenology Show exists in the world, ensure its future with a contribution to Northern Community Radio!

As a mail carrier in rural Grand Rapids, Minn., for 35 years, John Latimer put his own stamp on a career that delivered more than letters. Indeed, while driving the hundred-mile round-trip daily route, he passed the time by observing and recording seasonal changes in nature, learning everything he could about the area’s weather, plants and animals, and becoming the go-to guy who could answer customers’ questions about what they were seeing in the environment.
