Phenology Report: 10/20/20

Angela Nistler via KAXE-KBXE Season Watch FB Page
Itasca State Park

Phenology is the rhythmic biological nature of events as they relate to climate.  Each week, resident phenologist John Latimer closely assesses the subtle changes happening outside and gives a full, official phenology report.  Nature is changing right before our eyes these days.  This week John gives an indepth report of keaf changes on a variety of trees and shrubs, the last bumblebees for the season, and a bird report.

Let us know what you are noticing outside by leaving a voicemail at 218-999-9876 or sending us an email.  We would love to hear from you!

As a mail carrier in rural Grand Rapids, Minn., for 35 years, John Latimer put his own stamp on a career that delivered more than letters. Indeed, while driving the hundred-mile round-trip daily route, he passed the time by observing and recording seasonal changes in nature, learning everything he could about the area’s weather, plants and animals, and becoming the go-to guy who could answer customers’ questions about what they were seeing in the environment.
