Border News: Ely Covid Numbers are Up & Twin Metals Mineral Rights Plus Wolf Pups & Walleyes

Timberjay Newspaper

Marshall Helmberger is editor and publisher of the Timberjay newspaper, he joins Heidi each Friday for Border News Roundup.

This week Marshall talks about the rise in Covid-19 cases in Elycausing the schools to go back to distance learning and the restaurants to begin take-out only serving.  He tells us about a letter sent by U.S. Sen. Tina Smith to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Interior Secretary Deb Haaland asking them to resume a two-year study on withdrawal of mineral rights on portions of the Superior National Forest.

On a good note Marshall lets us know the walleye numbers are up in Lake Vermilion with DNR test netting showing the highest number of fish in 37 years and the International Wolf Center in Ely will be welcoming three new Wolf pups in May.  For more NE Minnesota news go totimberjay.com.
