I've always thought that the Reif Dance Program was one of the crowning jewels of our community. – Glenna Olson
The Reif Center Dance Program has enhanced lives of dancers in Grand Rapids and the surrounding communities for over 30 years with a wide array of movement options including ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hiphop and even clogging.
This summer, a special reunion weekend will bring dance friends back together for two days of connection, community, and, of course, dancing.
Planning for the June 11th and 12th event began pre-pandemic and two years later, it’s actually happening! Saturday, June 11th the reunion kicks off with a continental breakfast at 8:30am. Alumni are welcome to tour the expanded Reif dance facility and participate in a number of dance and yoga classes. After the Reif dancers perform their spring show Saturday evening, reunion attendees are invited to re-convene at Rapids Brewing for an informal celebration.
For planning purposes, the Reif requests RSVPs by May 13th. Keeping track of thousands of dancers over thirty years is difficult. The Reif hopes folks spread the word to dancers they know, so no one misses out on this unique weekend celebrating the experience of dance.
In this Area Voices, Glenna Olson discusses the long and rich history of the Reif Dance Program as well as what is in store for the big reunion weekend!
