Marshall Helmberger with Border News Roundup

On the Friday Morning Show Heidi Holtan talks with Marshall Helmberger editor and publisher of the Timberjay Newspaper. This week they talk about the Greenwoodtown board approving the purchase of a water treatment system to remove arsenic from the well water that is used to supply drinking water to township residents. Marshall talks about the sale of theLongbranch Saloonon Fall Lake in Winton to Travail Collective, and the group’s plans for developing the 23 acres.

New data released by the Department of Natural Resources show that thestate ice cover is growing shorter in Minnesota. Marshall tells us that Lake Vermilion’s ice cover has fallen over the past 50 years, from about 165 days out of the year to just 142. Heidi and Marshall talk about how this shortening ice coverage is due to climate change and how this impacts the area.
