Freya Sampson.jpg

Freya Sampson is a writer from London. She’s also a television program creator and executive producer. Her debut novel is a charming love letter to libraries, inspired by her own experience as a patron. It’s called The Last Chance Library. The story takes place in the sleepy English village of Chalcot, where the shy and reclusive June Jones helps run the library. The library is beloved, not just because June is a bookworm, but also because it holds so many memories of her mother whose death June still grieves over. But when the local government decides to close the library, a band of eccentric patrons join together to try to save it, forcing June to emerge from her shell to fight for her library and community. With it’s wonderful characters and message, Freya Sampson’s The Last Chance Library is a charming, feel-good read.
