Recently, Governor Walz announced budget cuts in the Corrections Department of Minnesota. Democrats believe this to be a partisan issue related to how the special sessions have become bogged down and strayed away from bonding and the supplemental budget.

Rep. Julie Sandstede (DFL) from Hibbing and representing District 6a is not taking this announcement lightly. She's going to fight for the inmates at MCF-Togo and the 60 some employees. As she put it in the recent story from David Colburn at the Timberjay newspaper "when you lose a job in greater Minnesota it's like losing 50-100 jobs in the metro area. Making cuts like they're proposing disproportionately impact greater Minnesota."
This Monday, August 24th there is a rally to support MCF-Togo in Nashwauk at 4:30.
