We Will Always Remember This Week: Marshall Helmberger and the Border News Roundup

Looking for Snow Fleas

Marshall Helmberger is our regular guest on the Friday Morning Show. Marshall is editor and publisher of the Timberjay newspaper, serving northestern Minnesota. This morning he talked with Northern Community Radio's News and Public Affairs Director, Heidi Holtan, about this "head spinning" week.

In this episode, Marshall and Heidi discuss the end of sports, the unprecedented economic impacts of Covid-19, Twin Metals, and the Ely City Council's response to the boycott of Fortune Bay Casino and other Native American-owned businesses in the area.

Marshall says this is a week that we will remember for our whole lives. He makes the case for physical instead of social distancing. He also suggests we get outside and look for SNOW FLEAS! Full story below.

For more than two decades, Heidi Holtan has helped shape the sound of KAXE. Since joining the station in 2002 as a volunteer music programmer, she has worn many hats including the weekly book program, Realgoodwords, hosting the Morning Show, creation and host of the weekly call-in program Between You and Me, serving as Outreach Producer. Program Director, News Director and currently Director of Content and Public Affairs.
