We're getting down to the wire at the MN Legislature. Minnesota is the only state in the union that has a divided government right now with a DFL governor, DFL majority House and a Republican majority Senate. Before the legislative session began there was high hopes on "working across the aisle" and compromise.
Right now there's a stalemate when it comes to spending, taxes, the budget... and many other things. Coming up in the next couple of days we'll be talking with Senator Paul Gazelka - he's the majority leader in the senate. So far the Senate has not made a counter offer to the changed budget plans put forward by both Governor Tim Walz and the MN House of Representatives.
House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler joined us today for Making Sausage and told us more about the DFL's take on the negotiations.
