The MN Supreme Court is Coming to Northern MN

http://www.mncourts.gov/

We talked with MN Supreme Court Justice Ann McKeig recently.  She told us about the MN Supreme Court's visit to Thief River Falls High School on Thursday September 13th.

We are pleased to invite you, your family, friends, and colleagues to meet the justices of the state’s highest court and your local judges during “An Informal Evening with the Minnesota Supreme Court” on Thursday, September 13, 2018. The dinner will be held at Lincoln High School (LHS) in Thief River Falls, MN. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. A short program will follow dinner, and will include information about the court system. In addition, justices of the Supreme Court, judges from the Ninth Judicial District, and local officials will be on hand to visit with attendees. Tickets for the community-wide event are being sold for $10.00 to cover the cost of dinner, which includes chicken kiev, a wild rice blend, seasoned vegetables, a dinner roll, and cheesecake. The Supreme Court will also hear oral arguments of a real case in the Lincoln High School auditorium the morning of September 13. This special program will give students an opportunity to witness the Court at work and interact with the justices through several assembly and classroom opportunities scheduled throughout the day. Since 1995, the Court has visited locations across the state to hear from the people it serves and foster citizens’ understanding of the Judicial Branch. This visit to Thief River Falls will mark the Court’s 48th community visit. The Ninth Judicial District is fortunate to host the Court and pleased to invite you to take part in what will no doubt be a memorable experience. For information about ordering tickets for the community dinner, please see the dinner event information on the following page. Thank you in advance for helping us make the evening a great success. Sincerely, Paul T. Benshoof Chief Judge, Ninth Judicial District
