Each week Timberjay editor Marshall Helmberger tells us about the stories they've been covering.  This week, besides an update on the Bois Forte band, the US Forest Service change in a study on lands where copper nickel mining is proposed, the Ely Winter Festival and gray foxes showing up far more north then they usually do.

Also congratulations are in order for the Timberjay -  the winner of five statewide awards during the Minnesota Newspaper Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest. MNA officials announced the results at last weekend’s annual MNA convention, held in Bloomington.

The Timberjay took first place for best website, as well as second-place awards for Editorial Page as a Whole, General Reporting, Social Issues Feature Story, and Typography and Design.
