The Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management is seeking input as it begins its work to draft rules for the new cannabis industry in Minnesota.
The office will gather comments on a variety of topics to ensure the rulemaking process is accessible to the widest possible range of those who want to help shape how the rules are drafted, according to a news release.
"This is an important step to create a safe, accessible, and reliable cannabis industry for Minnesotans 21 and older who choose to consume," the release stated.
A survey is available now through Nov. 30 on cannabis cultivation, processing and manufacturing. More surveys will occur in the future on other rulemaking topics.
The Minnesota Department of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation recently approved a $10 million loan to a company aiming at opening a cannabis cultivation and processing plant in Grand Rapids. But the Missouri-based business still has a number of steps to complete before the facility will be operable, including becoming licensed by state and complying with rules that have yet to be written.
The Office of Cannabis Management will offer additional opportunities to be involved in rulemaking through in-person and virtual meetings.
