Get on your costumes it's time to bust a move!
For the Halloween lovers we've got spooky dance parties, metal DJs and more, plus two slightly less spooky shows on All Hallows Eve Eve.
First up, Brothers Burn Mountain are playing Klockow Brewing in Grand Rapids, 6 p.m. Friday night. Jesse and Ryan Dermody have an eclectic sound that mixes blues, rock, folk and psychedelic sounds, and they're known for their drum-heavy live shows. The show is in celebration of the brewery's 9th anniversary week.
Also Friday night, the MorningBird Trio is playing the Arrowhead Bar in Virginia, 7 p.m. Violinist/guitarist Jill Burkes and guitarist Josh Palmi trade vocals while Shane Kingsland holds down the bass, playing a mix of covers and originals like their debut album Echoes in the Meadow.
On to Saturday and some Halloween shows. Noxious Ghoul is playing Bemidji Brewing and the duo will be spinning records plus performing a live show. They are a metal duo playing thrash, black metal and punk, and the event begins at 6:30 p.m.
Staying in Bemidji, three artists are playing a Bemidji Pride-hosted event at Rail River Folk School at 8 p.m. Alt and psych rock band Foxby, who just released a debut full-length album The Manual of Day and Night, Blackfishbleu, an indie band with a heavy sound drawing from doom metal, and KMRE, an R&B and reggae singer. In addition to their sets, there will also be a drag show and dance party.
Finally, there is a dance party and costume contest at The Pines in Grand Rapids beginning at 10 p.m. I'll be DJing a mix of funk, soul, disco and boogie on vinyl. Attending a Rocky Horror Picture Show at Klockow Brewing beforehand will give you a discounted entry fee.
