This weekend's Setlist features country blues, folk, electric blues, pop-punk and Americana. Highlighted shows are in Grand Rapids, Nisswa, New York Mills, Cass Lake and Park Rapids.
Chris Holm is a steel guitar playing country blues musician from the Twin Cities. He will be at Rapids Brewing Co. Friday night at 7 p.m. Holm, who grew up in Northern Minnesota in Clearbrook, also plays with The Fattenin' Frogs and Holm & Tanz.
The Grassroots Concert Series continues Friday evening with a couple of Red House Records folk musicians. Dean MaGraw is a guitarist who has worked with artists like Greg Brown and Boiled in Lead. Eric Peltoniemi is a folk singer-songwriter and former president of the acclaimed Minnesota folk label. The two will be sharing new music at the Live Well Nightclub & Coffee Bar in Nisswa, 7:30 p.m.
Also at 7:30 p.m., blues-rock trio Corey Medina & Brothers will be at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. The "brothers" are Gary Broste on bass and Eric Sundeen on drums, and the event is rescheduled from a March cancelled show. Tickets from the original show will be honored.
Late Friday night, a duo from Grand Forks, ND is making the trip over to Logjammerz in Cass Lake. Project : Constellation are a folk rock and pop-punk group who have released two EPs of original music and opened up for Charlie Parr. Showtime is 8:30 p.m.
A Saturday show to highlight is Forge North at the Armory Arts & Events Center in Park Rapids, 7:30 p.m. Led by vocalist and songwriter Charley Wagner, the Longville-based group plays a soulful brand of Americana.
