Around the region this weekend you can find jazz, bluegrass, blues, folk and even a past Riverfest performer. Here is The Setlist for April 5-7, 2024, featuring Grand Rapids, Duluth, Bemidji, Cass Lake and Aitkin.
The monthly First Friday jazz show is here again with Sam Miltich's Clearwater Hot Club at Rapids Brewing Co. The group will be playing in trio form with Miltich and his dad Matthew, plus Mark Kreitzer. Music begins at 6 p.m.
Chastity Brown will be in Duluth Friday night at Sacred Heart Music Center. The Minnesota-favorite Americana singer-songwriter mixes folk, soul and blues. She released her last album Sing to the Walls in 2022, when she also performed at Grand Rapids Riverfest. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. It will also be livestreamed.
Now for Saturday: Douglas Wood will be in Bemidji at the Headwaters Peace Center at 7 p.m. Known for his books, storytelling and love for nature, Wood is also a bluegrass musician proficient in guitar, banjo and mandolin.
Later on, you can find blues musician Little Bobby at Logjammerz in Cass Lake. The Native American singer and guitarist grew up on the Red Lake Reservation and now operates a music venue and recording studio in McIntosh. He is releasing a new album this Friday called Dealing From The Bottom of the Deck. The show in Cass Lake will also feature music from The Mugician and starts at 9 p.m.
The Sunday Spot series continues this weekend with Dan Rumsey at Sampaguita in Aitkin. Rumsey is a folk-blues singer-songwriter from the Twin Cities. The Sunday Spot begins at 1 p.m.
