Looking for some weekend fun after surviving our first real snowstorm of the winter?
There are plenty of live music options taking place around the area. Here are six of them in Gilbert, Nisswa, Grand Rapids, Crosby, Superior, and Bovey.
MorningBird are playing Friday night at Nick's Bar in Gilbert. The folk trio of Jill Burkes, Rob Wheeler and Josh Palmi are gearing up for the release of their debut album, Echoes in the Meadow, in April. Start time for the show in Gilbert is 6 p.m.
The first of five Saturday shows we're highlighting is Robb Justice at the Roundhouse Brewery in Nisswa at 5 p.m. Justice is an Alexandria-based Americana singer-songwriter who will be opening for The Wallflowers this summer in Fargo. His last album, Say No More, was released in 2019.
Next up we have Tate McLane in Grand Rapids at Rapids Brewing Co., Saturday at 6 p.m. The soulful roots singer from Wadena accompanies himself with harmonica and stomping.
The Sanctuary Hotel in Crosby is hosting Amanda Standalone and Doyle Turner, Saturday night at 7 p.m. Standalone is a folk-blues singer whose last album You're Still Here was inspired by interviewing rural Minnesotans about paranormal experiences. Turner, also one half of The International Treasures, put out a solo album Sweet, Difficult Sounds in 2022.
Over in Superior, WI, Erik Koskinen is playing at 8 p.m. Saturday night at the Cedar Lounge. The Minnesota favorite has released two singles so far from an upcoming album Down Street/Love Avenue, due out April 5.
Finally, there is another 8 p.m. show taking place in Bovey at Tavern on the Range. Part of a "Roaring '20s Prohibition Party," The Clearwater Hot Club jazz group, which features Sam Miltich, will be bring jazz from that decade to the party.
