St. Patrick's Day is this Sunday, March 17, and we have a special edition of The Setlist to help celebrate. Featured shows are in Duluth, Grand Rapids, Walker, Bemidji, and Laporte, and all are St. Paddy's day related.
Teague & The Paddy Wagon are a string and dance band that play traditional Irish music. Led by Teague Alexy, the band also features Erik Berry (Trampled by Turtles) on mandolin, Clancy Ward on fiddle, Jacob & Owen Mahon on guitar and bass, and tap-dancer Sarah Cagley. They are playing Friday night at The Caddy Shack in Duluth at 7 p.m.
Rapids Brewing Co. is hosting their "Shamrock'n Brunch" event Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon. The brunch raises money for the United Way of 1000 Lakes and will feature music from folk duo LaPlant Road. The duo are singer/guitarist Emily LaPlant and mandolinist Liz Ashworth.
Bemidji-based string band The Mississippi Sawyers are playing two separate St. Paddy's shows on Saturday. The group features Sawyer Corcoran, Eric Carlson, Dan Schnackenberg, and they will also be joined by special guest Erika Mork at both shows. The first is 11 a.m. at the Green Scene Market & Eatery in Walker, and the second is 6 p.m. at the TRC Bar & Grill in Bemidji.
Finally, there is a Saturday show in Laporte at the Popple Bar & Grill at 7 p.m. Funk rock jam band Kitchi Boogie are playing after a dinner of corned beef and cabbage. According to the event's Facebook page, they will be mixing some Irish jigs into their regular sound.
