The Setlist is our weekly live music feature curated by the music team of KAXE. It is by no means a complete list of all the live music happening in our area, it is meant to highlight a few shows each week. You can catch information on additional live music events by listening to KAXE throughout the day.
This weekend, Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10, we're highlighting a spring concert series kicking off in Nisswa, brothers known for their unique performances in Bemidji, and "cowpunk" music on the Iron Range.
We begin with Grassroots Concerts, a spring concert series that takes place at the Live Well Nightclub and Coffee Bar in Nisswa. This Friday at 7:30 p.m., Annie Humphrey kicks off the 2024 season.
Humphrey released a new album The Light in my Bones in October of 2023, and the producer/guitarist Jeremy Ylvisaker will be joining her for the Grassroots show.
Next up, we have real life brothers in The Brothers Burn Mountain playing in Bemidji Saturday night. Jesse and Ryan Dermody have played together for over 20 years, developing a unique live show along the way. Expect instrument swapping, drum solos, and an impressively full sound for only two musicians. They are playing at Bemidji Brewing at 6 p.m.
Heading east, we have another Saturday evening show in Gilbert. The Iron Range Outlaw Brigade (IROB) and Tres Ojos will be at the Ore House at 7 p.m. IROB bring a punk spirit and energy to country music in a style called "cowpunk." Tres Ojos are a newer bluegrass trio from Duluth that feature members of Black River Revue.
