BRAINERD — A Brainerd man was killed Tuesday morning, Aug. 25, when the car he was driving hit a train at an intersection between Baxter and Pillager.
The Minnesota State Patrol identified the man as Keith Michael Donovan, 37. The crash occurred on West Gull River Road Southwest, just south of Highway 210 near the Corner Store gas station.
According to a Facebook post from Pillager Area Fire and Rescue, firefighters responded to the collision around 6:30 a.m. They found the stopped train and Donovan’s vehicle on the south side of the train tracks.
There is no crossing arm at the intersection.
Donovan was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the state patrol.
