EAST GULL LAKE — Cass County is taking comment on the environmental review for a proposed development near East Gull Lake until Feb. 26.

Waterside Estates would be divided into 79 single-family residential lots on 115 acres. The project would also include an amenity center with access to docks, boat slips and a beach on Gull Lake's Wilson Bay, also known as Barefoot Bay. The project may also include recreational amenities like a putting green, tennis courts or pickleball courts.

Local residents have expressed mixed opinions about the project proposed by Maxson Holdings, with some concerned about the size of the lots and potential impact on wetlands and the shoreline.

Maxson has built seven developments in the Brainerd lakes area over the last 50 years, according to the Brainerd Dispatch.
