LAPORTE — The Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to make significant investments on Highway 200 around Laporte starting in 2027, and is inviting road users to learn more about the project at an open house.
No formal presentation is planned, with visitors encouraged to drop in anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Lakeport Township Hall, 155 County Road 39.
MnDOT crews plan to reconstruct the segment of highway within Laporte city limits, installing new storm sewer, sidewalk, curb and gutter. Outside city limits, MnDOT will resurface Highway 200 through to the Highway 371 intersection near Walker.
The total project cost is estimated to be $12.8 million, with projected benefits including a smoother, longer-lasting road surface, improved pedestrian facilities and better drainage.
