SILVER BAY — Residents and neighbors of Lake County are invited to a Tuesday, Sept. 16, potluck and community conversation around mental health.
Nancy Christenson, a mental health advocate and lifelong Silver Bay resident, stated the time is right to talk about mental health in a news release.
“Stigma can be particularly challenging in a small town. When everyone knows each other, it takes commitment and dedication in our communities! Let’s just start asking the questions, ‘How are you doing today? Can we help?’ Together, let us unite and agree to begin. Please join us!”
The potluck and conversation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay.
“Connection is a protective factor for promoting mental health and wellbeing," stated Zomi Bloom of Wilderness Health — a collaborative of hospitals in northeastern Minnesota with a focus on rural health.
"Events like potlucks and community conversations provide an opportunity to strengthen the fabric of the community.
