People braved temperatures in the 90s for the 121st annual parade and celebration in the northern Aitkin County city, in class small-town fashion.

HILL CITY — The community braved the heat in Hill City for the annual Fourth of July parade on Friday, July 4.

The parade was one of several events as part of the 121st celebration. It kicked off at 11 a.m. and was led by a color guard and parade marshals Ivy Holm and Yogi Partika, escorted by Dan Kingsley.

Other events on Friday included a bean bag tournament, a magic show, pie auction, bingo and music from Twist of Fate. Fireworks were set off at Hill Lake at dusk.

Saturday featured a volleyball tournament, flotilla boat parade, an all class reunion and a street dance in front of Knuckleheads.
