FOSSTON — The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host an open house at Fosston High School on Monday, June 23, ahead of planned construction on Highway 2.
MnDOT began studying Fosston’s Highway 2 corridor in 2019 to evaluate transportation and pedestrian needs. With the input of stakeholders, MnDOT found that reconstructing the road from a four-lane to a three-lane highway best served the community.
The highway was restriped to a three-lane in summer 2022. The upcoming state project, anticipated for 2027, will incorporate the re-striped road improvements with additional corridor enhancements, such as sidewalk upgrades, corridor lighting and other intersection improvements.
The open house will be 4-6:30 p.m., with residents invited to drop in and learn more about the project. No formal presentation is planned.
