Northern Minnesota will have at least nine entries in each event at the state meet in St. Michael next week.

Over 140 individual student-athletes and 50 relay teams from Northern Minnesota will run, jump and throw for the chance to take home a medal from the state track and field meet, set for June 10 through 12 at St. Michael-Albertville High School.

The 244 entries from the region are spread across 49 teams — over 50 school districts, because some teams are co-ops — with at least nine in each event.

High jump will have the most Northern Minnesotans competing, with 19 entries. Brainerd has the most total entries with 14.

Seven students qualified in all four of their events, the most an athlete can compete in, including Ava Phrakonkham from Bagley/Fosston, Dylan Nyberg from Cromwell-Wright, Addison Lauwagie from Park Rapids Area, Allison Fink from Rock Ridge and Vincent Perucho from Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.

While each of those athletes will race in at least one relay, Two Harbors' Trinity Giddings is the only athlete from the region to qualify in four solo events. The senior will race in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dashes and compete in long jump.

Class 3A preliminaries are Tuesday morning, June 10, with Class A prelims that afternoon. Class 2A prelims will be Wednesday morning, with Class A finals to follow. The remaining finals will be Thursday.

A full schedule with specific event times can be found on the MSHSL website, in addition to ticketing and streaming information.

Live results will be available from Wayzata Timing.
