The community and businesses are invited to take part in the annual national Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 10.
The event is sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers and will benefit a food shelf close to you in your community.
"Since launching in 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping to fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the United States," the organization said.
To participate, simply leave a sturdy bag filled with nonperishable, nonexpired and unbreakable items next to your mailbox before regular mail delivery on Saturday.
Items can include canned or boxed goods, baby food, peanut butter, cereal, soups, personal care products and more.
Those unable to help on Saturday can still participate. Check at your local post office for donation boxes for early drop-offs.
