The Northwest Minnesota Foundation has grants for eligible applicants with proposals that improve community relationships with newcomers, like immigrants and refugees.

BEMIDJI — The Northwest Minnesota Foundation will accept grant proposals through March 10 that promote inclusive and welcoming communities.

The foundation seeks to fund initiatives that are focused on improving the inclusion of newcomers to a community, with a priority focus on immigrants and refugees.

Examples in the request for proposal outline efforts that build connections and trust between community residents; further cooperation between local government, business, faith communities and nonprofits to identify and address newcomer needs; and support immigrant and refugee rights such as legal services and advocacy.

Awards are expected to range between $2,500 and $10,000.

The release states eligible applicants are nonprofits, government and public organizations that serve the Foundation Service area, including the Red Lake and White Earth Nations and 12 counties in northwestern Minnesota.
