MnDOT advises no travel in northwest Minnesota

High winds and blowing snow are causing hazardous driving conditions in northwest Minnesota on Dec. 4, 2024.

State highway authorities say high winds are causing blowing snow that impacts visibility.

BEMIDJI — High winds and blowing snow are causing zero visibility on northwestern Minnesota highways.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation issued a no travel advisory at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday for the following highways:

  • Highway 2, from Crookston to East Grand Forks,
  • Highway 9, from Crookston to Ada,
  • Highway 75, from Crookston to Perley,
  • Highway 200, from Ada to the North Dakota border and
  • Highway 220, from Alvarado to Climax.

Drivers are advised not to travel in these areas until the high winds subside and conditions improve.

MnDOT also advises drivers to pack an emergency supply kit with appropriate clothing for extreme cold weather before venturing out.
