COHASSET — The Minnesota Elementary School Principal’s Association named Cohasset Elementary one of its six Minnesota Schools of Excellence.
Schools awarded the designation demonstrate exceptional dedication to enhancing educational practices, according to the association. These enhancements include fostering a positive school culture and promoting continuous improvement. The School of Excellence designation lasts for seven years.
A news release pointed to Cohasset Elementary’s experiential learning opportunities, including an overnight trip to the Laurentian Environmental Learning Center and nature walks with KAXE’s Staff Phenologist John Latimer.
Since 2018, eight other elementaries in Northern Minnesota have been named Schools of Excellence, most recently Lake Park-Audubon and South Terrace Elementary in Carlton in 2023. Others include Sebeka Public School, Roosevelt Elementary in Detroit Lakes, Hermantown Elementary School, Washington Elementary School in Cloquet, Floodwood School and Vandyke Elementary in Coleraine.
