MOUNTAIN IRON — An informational open house about the plan to change a Highway 169 intersection in Mountain Iron to J-turns will be held Thursday, June 20 at 6 p.m. at the Mountain Iron Community Center.
The intersection of Nichols Avenue and Mud Lake Road with the highway will be reconfigured as part of a 2025 project. A news release from St. Louis County said the intersection only has stop signs on the side streets and has a history of severe crashes.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation and St. Louis County engineers will share why the project is needed and answer questions. The open house will also include demonstrations of the safety benefits of J-turns and how to navigate them.
