20-year-old Hibbing man dies in head-on Hwy 169 crash

The Minnesota State Patrol reported Levi Charles Greenwood was driving an Oldsmobile Alero northbound on the highway when the vehicle entered the southbound traffic lane.

CALUMET — A 20-year-old Hibbing man died after an early Saturday morning, Dec. 9, crash on Highway 169 in Calumet.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported Levi Charles Greenwood was driving an Oldsmobile Alero northbound on the highway when the vehicle entered the southbound traffic lane. A semitrailer was traveling south and struck Greenwood’s vehicle head-on.

Greenwood was dead at the scene.

The driver of the semitrailer, 51-year-old Christopher Kenneth Jensen of Grand Rapids, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Both involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, according to the state patrol, and the road was wet at the time.
