PINE RIVER—Happy Dancing Turtle is hosting a Foundations of Fencing Workshop.

Farmers, ranchers, gardeners, hobby farmers and anyone else interested in permanent fencing are invited to this course from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11.

Kent Solberg and Jonathan Kilpatrick, both of the Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota, and members of the Crow Wing River Basin Forage Council, will present Foundations of Fencing: Corner and Brace Systems for Fence Success.

Solberg owned and operated a fence contracting business for many years and has over 30 years’ experience with fence systems.

“Fence building is both an art and a science, and properly built fences make for years of happy neighbors and livestock success.”

Kilpatrick has built and maintained several different styles of fencing for many classes of livestock.

“Fence building is both an art and a science, and properly built fences make for years of happy neighbors and livestock success,” stated Solberg in a release.

A portion of the workshop will be in a classroom setting. Hands-on experience will feature constructing four types of bracing systems and corners, learning the New Zealand fence knot, and a discussion of insulator selection and installation as well as string fence wire.

The workshop is limited to 16 participants. Registration is required with a $60 fee, with lunch included.

Happy Dancing Turtle is located on the Hunt Utilities Group Resilient Living Campus, on 2331 Dancing Wind Rd. SW in Pine River.
