GRAND RAPIDS / BEMIDJI — KAXE / KBXE Northern Community Radio has won a prestigious Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for its excellence in digital reporting.
Our award-winning multimedia work includes our 2024 Election Guide, coverage of Essentia Health’s decision to discontinue OB care in Fosston and educators across the region working without contracts, our guide to Fourth of July fireworks and parades and our post-election analysis of the region’s political diversity.
“Our work as a KAXE News team places an emphasis on responsible journalism and disseminating information we feel is vital to strong communities in Northern Minnesota,” said News Director Chelsey Perkins. “I am very proud of this accomplishment. We will continue to hold ourselves to high standards to ensure our rural neighbors have unfettered access to high-quality local news.
“As Edward R. Murrow once said, ‘To be persuasive we must be believable; to be believable we must be credible; credible we must be truthful.’”
Of the awards given to journalists, the RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards are among the most respected journalism awards in the world.
