Chastity Brown returns to Northern Minnesota for Get Downtown with KBXE on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

Singer-songwriter and longtime KAXE favorite Chastity Brown is heading back to Northern Minnesota for a special performance Thursday, May 1, at The Loft in Bemidji as part of Get Downtown with KBXE.

She’ll be joined by up-and-coming Minneapolis band Dilly Dally Alley. Doors open at 5 p.m. with music starting at 6 p.m.

In a conversation on Headwaters, Brown reflected on her return to performing after a much-needed break to focus on health and family. She spoke about rediscovering her songs, leaning into music as a form of devotion, and finding joy in the power of community.

“I’m not thinking about it as performing anymore,” she said. “I’m just trying to be my true, authentic self — and let the music connect people.”

She also discussed her growing love for house concerts, describing them as intimate, grounding experiences that blur the lines between artist and audience.

“It’s not about hierarchy,” she said. “It’s about gathering, connection, and just doing my part in community.”
