New Law: Hands-Free Minnesota

Starting August 1st, 2019 the State of Minnesota will be Hands-free

What does that mean? Simply put, you may not hold your phone in your hand.

Also, a driver may not use their phone at any time for video calling, video live-streaming, Snapchat, gaming, looking at video or photos stored on the phone, using non-navigation apps, reading texts and scrolling or typing on the phone.

All the regulations are on the Minnesota State - Office of Traffic Safety.

Thanks to our longtime member and supporter Loggy Dome KAXE/KBXE is able to keep you safer and give you Popsockets and carmounts to help you be handsfree.

This could be your thank you gift when you pledge $10/month or more at kaxe.org.

It's the gift that keeps on giving - cool for you and making roads safer in Minnesota, all while supporting independent community radio in northern MN.  Grab your popsocket while they last by calling 800-662-5799.  Your support makes a difference to us, you are truly a very important person!

Sarah Bignall has led KAXE through a period of bold growth and recognition since becoming CEO/General Manager in 2022, including being named Ampers 2025 Station of the Year. Under her leadership, the station’s award-winning newsroom has expanded local coverage across Northern Minnesota and elevated KAXE’s digital reach to record levels. She’s also been sought out by outlets like KARE11, the Star Tribune, MinnPost, and Politico to speak on the far-reaching effects of CPB funding cuts on rural public media.
