Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital: Dir. of Operations Jon Pederson & Pharmacy Dir. Tyler Waller

This week we checked in with local health care providers in northern Minnesota about the vaccine rollouts. We talked with Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital's Jon Pederson - Interim Director of Operations and Tyler Waller, PharmD and director of Pharmacy.

They helped us understand how many vaccines are available to what communities, how they are stored, potential side effects and which vaccines they are using.

At this time, limited COVID-19 vaccines are available for patients 75 years of age and older. Every Monday at 9:00am that week’s appointments will be opened up for scheduling. The preferred method for scheduling appointments is via MyChart, though patients are also able to call 218-326-7344 to schedule. For all other patient groups, the best thing you can do right now is to ensure you have a MyChart account and that your contact information is current.

Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital, part of Fairview Health Services, is following the Minnesota Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention information related to the COVID-19 vaccine to keep our staff and community educated about its effectiveness and availability. We anticipate that getting vaccinated against COVID-19 will be one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of COVID-19.
