Making Sausage on the Thursday Morning Show with Senator Tina Smith
News and public affairs director Heidi Holtan hosts Making Sausage on the Thursday Morning Show. This week she talks about the announcement made by Governor Walz to hold a special session of the Minnesota legislature to discuss a pandemic update and reminds us of the upcoming statewide conversation with Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan on vaccines. Heidi tells us of the recent warning given by Sec. of State Steve Simons to lawmakers against spreading “politically-inspired lies” about election integrity.
Minnesota Senator Tina Smith joins Heidi to discuss the Leech Lake Reservation Restoration Act that unanimously passed the House and Senate. This bill effectively returns 11,760 acres of Chippewa National Forest land back to the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. The passing of this bill will help to right the wrong of taking the tribal land from the Ojibwe back in the 1940s and 1950s.
