Tracy Kampa talks about these book in our latest What We're Reading segment.

Grand Rapids Area Library children's librarian Tracy Kampa reviews and recommends new children's books for What We're Reading.

Our children's librarian Tracy Kampa tells us about four exciting new books by Lois Lowry, Martha Freeman, Kim Rogers and Grace Lin.

  • The Windeby Puzzle, by Lois Lowry. A story based on a body found in a bog, along with historical content. An incredible and unique story.
  • Trashed, by Martha Freeman. In this middle-grade novel, Arthur Popper attempts to solve the mystery of a chipped teacup in his family's second-hand store.
  • Just Like Grandma, by Kim Rogers, illustrated by Julie Flett. In this heartfelt picture book, Becca admires her grandmother's talents such as beading, painting and dancing, and her grandmother shows Becca she admires her talents as well.
  • Once Upon a Book, by Grace Lin, illustrated by Kate Messner. Alice is tired of bad weather keeping her inside and finds adventures by stepping into books.
