Area Voices: Marilyn Lee

Marilyn Lee is a woman of many talents.  She's a photographer, she's a quilter and embroidery artist who conducts online workshops, she's a collector of antique sewing machines and a lover of the outdoors. Maylands blending several of her talents and her newest endeavor, painting with thread.  Her sewing tool of choice is one of her many antique treadle sewing machines, but don't be fooled by her use of old school technology.  Marilyn has a thriving online existence.  Her YouTube channel has more than 17,000 subscribers and some of her videos have been viewed close to 300,000 times.  We learned more about her passions, her upcoming online classes, and her serene, northwoods life on the morning show! 

Katie Carter started at Northern Community Radio in 2008 as Managing Editor of the station's grant-funded, online news experiment Northern Community Internet. Since 2016, she's produced Area Voices showcasing the arts, culture, and history stories of northern Minnesota. She's our local host of NPR's All Things Considered and CBC's As It Happens every weekday from 4-7pm.
