Creative Spirit Fiber Festival This Weekend in Bemidji!

Bonnie Lundorff

2019 marks the 6th annual Creative Spirit Fiber Festival celebrating a wide array of fiber arts in Bemidji!  It's a one of kind arts event that combines the arts of cavandoli, knitting, quilting, rug-hooking, spinning, basketry and educational experiences!  Classes ranging from crochet to peg-loom weaving to untangling wool applique threads and wool feather trees are only a sampling of the 16 courses that will be offered starting tonight (Friday, February 22nd) and running thru tomorrow (Saturday, February 23rd).  The event takes place at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji.

In addition to classes, several fiber artists and businesses will be exhibiting and selling their wares.  Sue Harmon, a quilt historian and appraiser, will present a trunk show highlighting quilts from the 1800s to present day.  She'll discuss ways to determine the dates quilts were made as well as best practices in preserving quilts.  Karen Goulet will present a variety of Native American quilts and loook at how concepts of star quilts and blanket making have developed in our region.

Bonnie Lundorff of Willow Wood Market in Bemidji has organized the event along with Lori-Forshee-Donnay of the Watermark Art Center in Bemidji.   Bonnie stopped by the morning show this week to chat about it!
