Countless little ones dream of being dancers when they grow up, but few actually take the steps and put in the grueling hours required to turn that dream into reality. Arimee Gambill of Grand Rapids has enrolled in dance classes at the Reif Center since she was a little girl. Last week, she graduated high school, this weekend she'll perform in her last shows as a Reif Center dancer and later this summer she'll take the leap into a dance apprenticeship with the James Sewall Ballet Company. The rare opportunity could catapult her into a career as a professional dancer and will certainly impact the shape of her future. In this Area Voices segment, Arimee talks about her journey as a dancer, why she thinks dancing makes her a better person and what life will be like as an apprentice in a professional dance company.
The Reif Center Spring Dance Show is happening this weekend. You can catch Arimee and all the other Reif Center dancers Friday and Saturday night or Sunday afternoon.
