Molly Olson breaks down what's going on at the Ely Folk School this month

It's the first Friday of the month and that means we check in with the arts scenes across the listening area. Katie Marshall from the MacRostie Art Center, Northern Community Radio's Area Voices producer Katie Carter and Molly Olson from the Ely Folk school broke down the first Friday happenings and this month's upcoming arts related activities in Grand Rapids, Brainerd, Park Rapids, Bemidji, Aitkin and Ely.  From live jazz and exhibit receptions to bee keeping classes and folk dancing,  March's creative offerings are many.  Check out the link for your area to find out what's happening in your neck of the woods!  

Katie Carter started at Northern Community Radio in 2008 as Managing Editor of the station's grant-funded, online news experiment Northern Community Internet. She returned for a second stint in 2016-23. She produced Area Voices showcasing the arts, culture, and history stories of northern Minnesota.
Heidi Holtan is Director of Content and Public Affairs. She manages producers/hosts and is the host of the KAXE Morning Show, including a variety of local content like Phenology, What's for Breakfast, Area Voices, The Sports Page and much more, alongside Morning Edition from NPR.
