Watermark Art Center Opens This Weekend!

Inside the new Watermark Art Center

Bemidji, MN was just named Minnesota Monthly's Best MN Town.  One of the many elements of Bemidji that make it unique is its passion for the arts.  The Bemidji Sculpture Walk, a thriving theater and music scene, the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra, the First Friday Arts Walk, and the yearly Art in the Park are just a sampling of wealth of riches in the arts that set Bemidji apart from other comparable towns.

The Best MN Town gets even better this weekend when the doors to the new Watermark Art Center open.  The Watermark Art Centerin Bemidji has been temporarily located for the past year. The new location-a 10,000 square foot, renovated grocery store-is home to 4 spacious galleries - one dedicates solely to indigenous art, a 1,000 square foot educational space and a gift shop stocked with one of a kind local art.  Doors open tomorrow, December 2.

Lori Forshee-Donnay, Executive Director at the Watermark Art Center, stopped by the KBXE studio to talk about the thoughtful planning that went into creating the arts center,  the galleries'  first exhibits and how everyone is affected by creativity.

The public is invited to the grand opening  and community dedication events at Watermark Art Center at 2:00pm tomorrow, Saturday December 2 at 505 Bemidji Avenue.  Everyone is invited to tour the facility,  view the exhibits and enjoy the ribbon cutting ceremony featuring hand drum-singing by Waabinoo Bines and drumming circles by the Battle River Singers.
