The 4th annual Creative Spirit Fiber Festival kicks off tonight with classes offered in quilting, basketry and knitting. Tomorrow, educational opportunities include Anatomy of Selbu Mitten taught by Pam Madson, Beginner Crochet taught by Peggy Olson, Beginning Ojibwe Beading taught by Gwen Reid, Beginner Rug Hooking taught by Carol Edwards, Binding Techniques, Brazilian Embroidery, Felted Soap Making, Quilling, Felted Bowls, and much more. In addition to the lessons, a market consisting of fiber artists from around the state displaying and selling their wares. There will even be opportunity to sit at a spinning wheel and spin wool into yarn!

She and Lori Forshay Donnay of the Watermark Art Center organized the Creative Spirit Fiber Festival. Bonnie stopped by the KBXE studio to talk about the festival, the revival of fiber art and the importance of taking the time to create with our hands in a faced paced world. The Creative Spirit Fiber Festival offers classes for a wide variety of skills and skill levels. The two day event will be held at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji.
