VIRGINIA — Those interested in creating positive change on the Iron Range and learning more about how to mindfully use your voice to uplift and educate others might wish to attend an anti-racism poetry workshop this weekend.
The workshop is Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7-8, in Virginia and Chisholm.
“Learning about anti-racist actions is a movement to restore healing and restoration. Anti-racism is a practice of love and acceptance,” organizers stated in a news release. “It is important to insert these gentle practices daily so that we may provide a safe space for our community.”
Workshops are 3-5 p.m. Saturday at the Lyric Center for the Arts in Virginia, and 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Voices for Ethnic & Multicultural Awareness, or VEMA, in Chisholm.
The workshops will be facilitated by artist and activist Hedy Tripp, an immigrant from Singapore who currently resides in St. Cloud.
This activity is made possible by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, and the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Register at lyriccenteronline.org.
